In 2009, the country first experienced the emergence of typhoons like no other. Typhoon Ondoy’s downpour greatly distressed the whole country due to the effects of global warming. Different infrastructures, such as those found along the Marikina River, hampered the flow of water and significantly damaged the life and property of the community. Clearly, the challenges to land use and management are complementary to the rising concern on climate change.

AN APPEAL TO PRESIDENT AQUINO TO SET STRAIGHT THE PATH TOWARDS THE COMPLETION OF CARPER

We, the undersigned farmer organizations and other civil society groups, call on President Aquino to uphold his commitment of ensuring the completion of land acquisition and distribution (LAD) under Republic Act No. 9700 or CARPER.

 

CBCP, NGOs, POs Call for the Passage of the NLUA in the Senate

Intramuros, Manila – Various civil society organizations, together with the Catholic Media Networks and CBCP Episcopal Commission on Social Communications and Mass Media, hosted a media forum on land rights to call for the passage of the National Land Use Bill at the Senate.
